Representative Demetrius Atsalis reprised his famous
“Do You Know Who I Am" golf course routine a few years ago, this time with a town parking
lot employee at a local beach this week.
It seems
Atsalis didn’t bother to buy a $25 beach sticker, and refused to pay the gate
charge when he pulled in.
After an
animated verbal confrontation with the attendant, Atsalis just drove in and
parked without paying.
The attendant called the Barnstable police who issued Atsalis not one, but two tickets; one for failing to pay to park in a public parking lot, and the other for an expired inspection sticker.
Ironically Atsalis runs his own parking lot business on School Street near the Steamship Authority, and should have had empathy for the young town employee.
Atsalis offered an explanation as a comment on this post claiming that he was in a hurry to help a friend out in Hyannis Harbor.
He said he took a chance of risking the chances against getting a ticket against the $25 beach sticker.
Atslalis blamed the flap on the failure to communicate with the young parking attendant.
Disputes in the extended Atsalis family are always the fault of non-family members.
Atsalis has owned his own parking lot on School Street near the Steamship Authority, and operates a day lot on his cousin's Black Cat Restaurant property on Ocean Street.
He should have know that parking attendants have limited abilities to allow non-beach sticker automobile owners to park for free.
How arrogant can Atsalis be?
He's been commuting 150 miles round trip to Boston every day with an expired inspection sticker, an offense that not only results in a $100 ticket, but also a 3-year insurance surcharge
A second
unimpeachable COGger reports that a Barnstable town councilor, and a member of
the Planning Board, got into donnybrook at the Island Merchant on Main Street, Hyannis over the weekend.
The word is a councilor, who is quick to "take on" other councilors, literally got the “shit beat out of him,” by a young Planning Board member.
The formidable-looking, but pussy councilor, was bloodied enough he'll need four hours of work on his face by a Hollywood make-up artist to cover up his wounds.
The Planning Board member didn't have a scratch.
The sissy-woose town councilor from the super wealthy village proved he's no action and all talk.
Look for the guy with the remains of a black eye, with cuts, and/or abrasions on his face at the council hearing tomorrow.
After reading this post, he might not even show up.
My advice to Jim is "never trust a fart."
Does J.C. really want to take on the chairman of the board of the 1 800 Win Win law firm?
A third
COGger reported that Councilor Janice Barton had enough of the bull crap on
the Appointments Committee and resigned in a huff this week.
There's no doubt about it; there's trouble in River City, and it starts and ends with "J's"/
You can hear Janet Joakim’s spin on the ZBA resignations in sound bytes on WQRC.
Joakim
continues to blame ZBA members.
We all know the truth…..The Atsalis family was put on earth to walk over, atop, and around us as an altruistic act of God.
The Steve Swain you'll see on the Waterways Committee is Janet's brother.
While he's technically not an Atsalis, he is a member of the extended Atsalis family, therefore eligible to feed at the public trough.
The Atsalis Family is always right.
When there's a conflict, it's the world that's wrong.
Have you
stopped buying liquor at the Cape Cod Package Store yet?
I know
dozens who have.
The notoriety from the Atsalis name must be hurting business because last week the store
featured an unheard of deal on beer.
I’ve got to
hurry to call Howie Carr’s producer.
Howie loves
Demetrius.
Stay tuned….
It's amusing to play a game called "What's the stupidest move here?" In any complex or sensitive situation at Town Hall there's always an option that is clearly the worst, most wrong-headed response. Joakim has a genius for homing in on this like a heat-seeking missile. For instance, Barton may have resigned from appointments. The stupid move here would be to appoint henchman Rugo to the vacancy. In other words this would be the decision to damn the torpedoes and try to tough out what is clearly a fiasco. One of Joakim's most serious failings is an almost superhuman capacity for denial. Everything's under control and if it isn't, someone else must be to blame. For years the dominant faction on the council has used the appointments process to advance its political ends; it's only human nature. This current disaster only occurred because of the absolutely ham-fisted clumsiness of the faction trying to dominate. Really, can we get some "proper villains" back in charge? If you're going to shove cronies and agendas down the public's throat, at least do it in a skillful manner.

gary, your facts are way off on this one, did you know atsalis was called to go help a friend who was having boat problems in the bay? He was not going to the beach and was gone with-in an hour. Lets see pay a $15 fee or get a $25 ticket you do the math. Have you ever heard of miscommunication when talking to teens or young adults? This seems to be one of those cases. The moral here is that no good deed goes unpunished! I seem to remember John Atsalis helped your son out with some part time work a few years back, or did you forget this? real evil people.

gary,gary, gary,
You should and I am sure you do know, that Atsalis has never used that phrase, even your idol Howie Carr had in his article that at least the Rep did not used those 6 little words. So throw mud as you may but PLEASE get the facts correct.

The way I recall it, the regular watchman at the Greek Festival called two days before the event and said he couldn't make it.
John Atsalis was having a difficult time finding someone to replace him on such short notice.
The job was for three days between the hours of midnight and 8:00 AM.
My son was 16 years old, and I asked him if he'd be willing to do the job to help Atsalis out.
I didn't want my kid working all night in a dark place alone so I asked him to hire his friend, Chris Wilcox to stay with him.
Any money he received for the three days work was divided between the two.
The next year the regular watchman was available, so my son got the axe.

Just had this comment come in from the Atsalis clan on the dog blog:
hey crooked teeth-Atsalis would wipe the ground with your scrawny backside if he were not in public office, So keep on saying what you want, every dog has its day, that means you and not that ugly mutt you have.
What a class act, eh?

Just a friendly reminder- the Town Meeting Thursday 7\17 starts at 6pm. The agenda currently on line shows very little before public comment. Plan on getting there by 6pm if you plan to speak at general comment. Assume J. and crew will be lining up sycophants to back their play.
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 01:20 PM
Atsalis will just get the tickets "fixed," because that's what he does.
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 01:22 PM
Didn't Howie Carr bag Atsalis on a charity scam? Didn't he run a golf tournament at Hyannisport Country Club where the proceeds were supposed to pay for some college courses for needy kids, but never gave a dime to any, and never registered as a charity?
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 01:25 PM
So Atsalass was helping a friend "out on the bay". Probably figrued he could park for free in the town owned field/parking lot that the Hyannis Yacht Club has taken over. He is an arrogant jerk. Ever notice that he only picks on old ladies and kids? Park for an hour....PAY THE FEE. Misscommunication my ATSALASS

Why hasn't anyone brought up the complete waste of this year's fireworks? Why send $50k worth of fireworks into a fog bank? Were the fireworks reconfirmed for Saturday in order to try to maximize the turnout for Klimm's turn at the podium that night? Without the faint promise of a display how many people would have skipped the chance to sit in the drizzle?
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 01:52 PM
Why didn't Tiny D just park at his Daddy's parking lot and walk over to help his friend? Is fifteen bucks really that much to the guy?
Posted by: not buying it | July 16, 2008 at 02:17 PM
Golf event is a registered charity, see Sec. of States office, has helped out with three college bound students and a 4th this year, hardly a scam. This was vetted thru the state ethics board, guess you missed that story or chose to ignore it. Money went to Hyannis East Elem-check it out and other charities-see his campaign reports. Or is this to much work for you?
if you people are parents of teenage kids, ever have conversations where one thing was said but the teen interpreted it another way? sounds like this happened here. Like one of you said he parked in the lot used by the yacht club not the town lot. Good thing his friend has a frien like atsalis instead of you, he would have been left out in the bay. So much for a fellow citizen extending some good will when needed.
With friends like you who needs enemies? And the person who wrote in from the demented Schwaab blog, you should have mentioned what Schwaabie said to get the response he did- that was real classy. If you have not check it out then judge for youselves.

What old ladies from 1:26?Would love to know, your nose is growing.
Posted by: g,g,g | July 16, 2008 at 03:19 PM
"take your threats and stick them up your butt". A response in true schwaab form. Now who is classy?
Posted by: g,g,g | July 16, 2008 at 03:25 PM
Atsalis's golf event was registered as a charity three or four years after it started, and only after Atsalis was outed by Howie Carr.
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 03:35 PM
Obviously Atsalis has some free time on his hands today.
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 03:38 PM
Wow, boy does Gary have a GREAT one going today. Gee, I wonder if the commenter who logs in here as Gary gary gary might be Demitrius himself.........
Demitrius, say what you want about Eric Schwaab but he has way more class than you, and brains as well. As for any comment he is accused of, watch what you say. I was there WITH HIM when you said something pretty bad about him which was pretty classless. Although I missed what you said to him, he told me what you said, and no offense good friend, I believe it might have been true.
In any case, as for the 'politics' of all this, it is rather sickening. Personally I could care LESS WHO Mr. Atsalis is. He is NO better than anyone else, and Demitrius, you put your pants on just likr the rest of us..... one leg at a time. You are NO better than anyone else, like that or not. Enjoy your time in office friend because this time you are going to lose, bank on it.
Have a nice day, everyone.

Doesn't Atsalis run a few parking lots near the Steamship Authority?
I wonder how long it would take for him to call the cops and have the car towed if someone only wanted to park in one of his lots for a "little while" while he goes out into the harbor to help a friend?
Posted by: | July 16, 2008 at 03:43 PM
Ask Barnstable youth hockey, soccer, baseball, selectman, councilors, state employees etc-they all park for FREE, FREE and still FREE and all those night restraunt cars for Spanky's and the Black Cat do too. Any other questions? I bet you too if it were an emergency, Do you all know that the lot parked in was 3/4 empty and in the past was free to Yacht club members?
Posted by: g,g,g | July 16, 2008 at 03:54 PM
one lot on Ocean st.
Posted by: g,g,g | July 16, 2008 at 03:58 PM
Thanks, John.
I don't know about you folks, but I'm geting tired of being threatened by these Atsalis creeps.
Demetrius clearly needs to get a job (or, take the one he has more seriously.)
Can you recall a State Rep.?
Posted by: bugsy | July 16, 2008 at 04:05 PM
John Julius, i was there and if you did not hear him go clean the wax from your ears.
It was ok for schwaab to call him a "piece of Sh%# " in front of his young daughter for no reason other than not voting for him? Remember what he published about him and his family?
Let's see, you go on based what he said to you, wow, I thought you had more brains than that.
How come you guys never answer my questions?
Good luck supporting his opponent. Cocaine arrest with intent to distribute, superior court, 6months propation and family member does time, hmmm. solid individual, also his neighbor says "he's a pot head" go for it guys he is your kind of candidate. Let's see lot misunderstanding vs coke arrest,. easy choice for me. But then again you guys support the mother beating Hyannis Councilor.
Posted by: g,g,g | July 16, 2008 at 04:08 PM
"Thanks John"? what, for lying for you? Who threatened you? Give details, but I am sure you will not and I am very surprised you have not taken down my postings. thanks for that.

You are a disgrace.
