Rugo, Innuendo, and Munafo….One is an Italian suppository, and the other two are pazzo’s on the Barnstable Town Council…..
Q.) Would you make dinner reservations at a restaurant that was fully booked? A.) No, but Rugo and Munafo would.
Rugo, who says he ran for political office to get health insurance, put on and act that gives rebirth to Italian jokes on Cape Cod, i.e.
You Tube videos are seen throughout the world, and the one I produced depicting the latest version of the Barnstable Gong Show is certain to make the top ten this week.
Even if you were witness to the zany antics in the early evening at Barnstable Town Hall on September 18th, 2008, the events get funnier each time you watch.
The good news is it’s a riot, but the bad news the Keystone Kops are in charge of spending $156 million of Barnstable taxpayer's funds.
The storyline goes like this;
Hutchenrider belatedly tells the panel the church is available on October 28, a Tuesday, and traditional voting day,
As you watch the video you'll think the council is debating the purchase of a sack of potatoes, and not scheming to interfere with the bedrock of American; the right to vote.
Rugo and Munafo seem unfazed about the 360 voters who signed the recall affidavit and petition,
What’s even more amazing is four of the principals in the farce are lawyers; Rugo, Chirgotis, Canedy, and Town Attorney, Ruth Weil.
Confused because the charade didn’t turn out as planned after a vote to change the date to Tuesday, October 28, Chirigotis awakens Munafo who failed to raise his hand during the 5 – 4 vote and asks to repeat the vote.
No one on the prevailing side objects.
Chirigotis asks Munafo if he wants to vote and calls for a revote which results in a 5 – 5 tie, which means the amendment to change the election to Tuesday didn’t carry.
Rugo subsequently asks to move the question and the election is set at the already-booked Christ Chapel on October 30th; 6 – 4.
In the last scene Rugo shuts off Hutchenrider, Curtis, and Farnham who attempt to establish a back-up date after learning the church is unavailable.
On Friday morning the pastor of the church confirmed Hutchenrider’s claim that the church is fully booked on October 28th, and unavailable to host the election.
Nevertheless as it stands today the election will be held at Christ Chapel, the official polling place for Precinct 6, on October 30, 2008 between the hours of 7:00 AM and 8:00 PM.
We will make You Tubes of Channels 4, 5, 7, 8, and 25 news broadcasts of the election...
In the meantime bring out the Italian jokes...
Luigi and Paulo were fishing in the Mediterranean sea one sunny day when an Iraq mine came floating along.
On seeing this round, spikey object coming nearer and nearer, Luigi shouts at his friend
" Hey Paulo, it's a mine, it's a mine!!!" Paulo replies "
O.K. Luigi, you can-a have it!!! "
Per comment of JJ on yesterdays/last night posting. No problem. Correspondence definitely on route to Cape Cod Times and Barnstable Patriot.
Slowing me down a little bit is the preponderance of nasty remarks and vituperative comments on presanitized sevenvillagesblog.com. Will do and is on route.
In addition my website will go back up on Thursday. Attorney Generals Office and the media like watching the O'Keefe/Worthington disaster, so that will give us a little punch coming in on the recall effort.

Charter objection, oops foul oops, hey you can't do that, oops.
How long has Munafo been on the council? Was Thursday he first day?

Gary,
I wish at least one of the asswipe town councilors would come in here and explain WHY it is that they chose NOT to have the election the SAME DAY as the general election, which would have SAVED the taxpayers here our hard earned MONEY!!!!!
But as usual, the asswipes there could care LESS about saving anyone here any $$$!
And while I am on this subject, this goes out to Janet Joakim:
Janet, as you are a regular reader here, why not log in under one of your phony screen names and explain to us WHY you choose to COST the taxpayers here money. Janet continues to accuse COG of costing the town money in lawsuit (s) when in fact there was ONLY ONE lawsuiT which was a TEN TAXPAYER LAWSUIT for good reason that was brought to STOP the sickening purchase of the water company in which the approx 7000 Hyannis ratepayers got screwed by the manager and council where they STOLE the Barlaco land from us!
So Janet, come in here and explain to the TAXPAYERS WHY you and the other morons on the council PURPOSELY cost the taxpayers EXTRA money and most on the council could care less!
Janet and the other morons like Crocker, Munafo, Rugo and a couple others could care less! the only thing they want is to STOP this recall any way they can because IF they don't, the new message will be clear:
THERE WILL BE MORE!!!
As far as I am concerned, there should be recalls in every precinct where we have irresponsible MORONS for councilors, and this is in almost EVERY precinct in this town!
So Janet, we invite you to log in, under any name you desire.

From today's (9/23/2008) edition of the Cape Cod Time:

HYANNIS — The recall election of Town Council President Janet Joakim won't fall on Election Day, and recall backers say the date was chosen to keep turnout low.
Last week, the council voted to schedule Joakim's recall vote for Thursday, Oct. 30 — five days before November's presidential election. Since it's falling on a different date than the regular election, town workers will have to send out notice cards to voters in Joakim's Precinct 6 to notify them .
The cards could add as much as $1,000 to the election tab, Town Clerk Linda Hutchenrider said yesterday. The election itself will likely cost between $5,000 and $6,000 to cover ballots, election workers and other expenses.
A group of voters in Joakim's precinct filed paperwork for the recall election this summer, accusing her of abusing her power with appointments to the town zoning board and breaking a promise to constituents when she voted not to adopt a split tax rate (different rates for commercial and residential properties).
Because the usual polling place, Christ Chapel in Centerville, is booked on Oct. 30, the election will be held at Marstons Mills East Horace Mann Charter School on West Barnstable Road.
"We'll have to remind people they're going to the school," Hutchenrider said yesterday. "Those notices won't cost a lot extra, but it's money nonetheless. ... These elections aren't free."
Under the town charter, the council had to schedule the election between Oct. 20-Nov. 4 — 45 to 60 days after Hutchenrider certified the recall paperwork. Councilors had considered other dates, including the Nov. 4 election day and the previous Tuesday, Oct. 28. But they said they favored Oct. 30 because it falls on a Thursday, a typical council meeting day.
That allows councilors to announce the results and issue a response themselves at a meeting that night, councilor James Crocker said last week.
"(With this date) we could do some good work," he said. "We could show some good leadership and we could answer some questions and release the results to our constituents."
But those arguments don't hold up for some of the recall organizers. They say councilors who oppose the recall scheduled the precinct's vote before the national election to discourage voters from going to the polls. A minimum 20 percent of the precinct's 2,500 voters must cast votes for the election to be valid.
"It was intentionally scheduled to confuse voters," recall organizer Taryn Thoman said. "They're trying to keep people away from the polls. But we got a date. ... I'm just glad it's going forward."
If a majority of voters elect to vote Joakim out of office, council Vice President Frederick Chirigotis will temporarily assume the president's role while the council schedules another election to fill Joakim's seat, Hutchenrider said.
Candidates, who must be registered Precinct 6 voters, must collect 50 signatures in order to run for the office.
Once a new councilor is elected, the full council would then vote to fill the roles of president and vice president.

John
Linda said the recall will require the extra expense no matter what day it is held
Posted by: Kyle | September 23, 2008 at 10:56 AM
I didn't know that Linda Hutchenrider had the power to overturn the charter.
The charter says the election must be held in the precinct of the officer to be recalled.
Joakim's precinct is in Centerville, and the MMEPCS is in Marstons Mills.
The charter also mandates the council to order the election and set the date.
The council ordered the election held at Precint 6's polling place (their polling place) which is Christ Chapel.
Let's see a week ago Precinct 6 voters voted at Christ Chapel.
The day before Halloween they've vote in Marstons Mills, and four days later back to Christ Chapel.
If you watch the video you'll never hear or see the council mention the word Horace Mann Charter School.
The council only talks about Christ Chapel.
Now we know who the real boss in town is; Linda Hutchenrider.

Pazzo is the Italian word for crazy. The double "z" is pronounced as "tz" like in pizza.

Look, I was born at night but NOT LAST NIGHT! And i wasn't born yesterday!
Please...no one needs to insult us anymore!
The EXTRA cost WILL occur mainly BECAUSE this will happen on another day. This means the extra costs associated with having this on this 'other day'....
I would like to see ALL the costs needed to have this on this OTHER DAY! Case in point.... Since this will be held NOT on Nov 4th with the general electiom, then naturally the EXTRA COST for the police detail will be borne by the TAXPAYERS! And I suspect there will be many other EXTRA costs associated for this 'other day'
So like I said, PLEASE.... don't insult our intelligence! There will certainly BE EXTRA COSTS by having this on 'another day'
And WHY do I suspect the RIDICULOUS comment came from JANET JOAKIM, who I guess now has another NEW screen name, "Kyle"
Janet, you truly are a piece of work!
Janet Joakim now has the following ANONYMOUS screen names, at least ones that I know of....
mike sanders
Able kane
dave williamson
edgar
Kyle
and I am sure that Gary has MORE that Janet posts under.
But I do have to admit Janet. NICE TRY to let us know that there is no EXTRA COST! Your childish games just do not work here........

RECALL RUGO

Cut the crap on the Italian comments. Several good citizens of Barnstable of Italian decent not only signed the petitions, many multiple times, they also helped gather signatures.

Please stop with the talk about recalling other councilors. Not one of them has come close to the egregious offenses against the public that Joakim has committed time and time again.
Rugo is a hothead. So is Crocker. So am I, for that matter. So what? They are used to playing these games and getting away with them. They are angry that they were not able to stop the recall so they did the next best thing. Confuse the voters.
Let's concentrate on recalling Joakim. It will be the first in the history of our town. Once we succeed, the council will have to realize that the voters are not in a complete apathetic coma after all, and they might start remembering who put them on the council in the first place.

It all comes down to: JOAKIM, JOAKIM, JOAKIM !
Damn I miss Tim Russert!
Posted by: NBC | September 23, 2008 at 12:00 PM
Munazzo. Good one. : )
One consistently positive thing that folks, including myself can say about Jim Munafo is that he returns telephone calls.
Most councilors return calls, especially from their constituents who are having problems with the town. That is part of their job. Heck, even Mr. Farnham returned a call from John Julius!
I spoke to dozens of Joakim's constituents who were furious that they had major problems with various town departments and she never returned their phone calls.
One couple's house burned to the ground during a storm last November. Joakim wrote about this tragedy on her website, but never bothered to call the people. (She was probably too busy blogging smack about my six year old son.) The couple had to move into temporary housing with their four kids. It took them EIGHT MONTHS just to get approval to demolish their house. Needless to say, they signed the petition.....
One man said he called Joakim no fewer than 20 times and never received a response. He vowed to tell her what he thinks of her to her face at the polls.
One woman was crying telling me how she was mercilessly harassed by Joakim after signing the Walsh petition, and she also said she would take it out on Joakim at the polls. She was too afraid to sign, but I left her my number. Two minutes later her mother called, who also lives in the 6th, and she told me to come right over. She signed and so did eight of her neighbors.
The issues on the petition are essentially the straw that broke the camel's back.
I just got off the phone with Bill whatever his name is from the CCTimes. He never saw Joakim's blog from last year, and has no interest in seeing it now.
He used all the tired old Joakim arguments about being from ''outside the precinct'', and said he has a right to his opinion.
I told him it was a one-sided uniformed irresponsible opinion for a journalist. He told me if I disagreed I could write a letter to the editor, as if I could spell out this mess in two hundred words.
He is bought and paid for.

John,
Linda Hutchenrider informed the council in a response to Ann Canedy about the cost, that this election will cost the taxpayers 5000-6000 dollars.
She said the date of the election makes no difference. If it is held on November 4, it still considered a special election separate from the general election
Posted by: Kyle | September 23, 2008 at 12:37 PM
I spoke to Linda at length many times about the date. She told the council that Nov. 4th would be the best date for her office, and make the most sense for the convenience of the voters. Any other argument is nonsense.
We need to get Boston news down here. Cape Cod Times is going to continue to print Joakim sob stories and characterize the whole recall as a ''vendetta''.
While this started out as a catfight last November, that all changed when the ZBA resigned and the Blanchard's matter was reffered to the CCC. Hundreds of people used the phrase ''straw that broke the camel's back'' when discussing the main charge for the recall.
That editorial libeled bloggers without even asking for comment. They have no interest in what precipitated all the heat on the local blogs.
We need multiple calls to media in Boston. Let your fingers do the dialing, folks.

Bill Mills's grandson is a kid of convenience.
Child or pawn? I’ll let you decide.
Unfortunately for Bill's grandson, nobody will play with him because of his Bill’s behavior.
He is very charming at first but over time his true colors come out.
His wife is a wacko as well. Good luck to all that must deal with them. Especially him……"
Mills has a reputation for obsessive behavior.
His levels of hate and obsession seem to be escalating and I would take care with him.
He is libel to snap soon.
I just hope no one gets hurt.
IT LOOKS TO ME LIKE MILLS SHOULD DO SOME RESEARCH BEFORE HE CARRIES JANET JOAKIM'S WATER!!!!!

You are missing the point.
Italian jokes stereotype Italians as stupid (the classic example; Why are so many Italians named Tony? A. From having "TO NY" stamped on their foreheads when they emigrated from Italy.
It took 50 years to change the image thanks to folks lide Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Victor Mature, Perry Como, Gov. Cuomo, and thousands of others.
Italian jokes began to wane in popularity in the eighties because people found out that Italians aren't typically stupid.
Munafo and Rugo's actions Thursday night in Barnstable were stupid.
Here we go again with stupid Italians.
Rugo is an attorney who took the job because he couldn't afford health insurance. Again more stupidity.
Munafo's stupidity speaks for itself when he mumbles and bumbles his opposition.
Neither gave a rat's ass about voters, only themselves. More stupidity.
Munafo and Rugo set Italians back in Barnstable.
Posted by: | September 23, 2008 at 01:50 PM
You can add a fourth name to Rugo, Innuendo, and Munafo; Troiano.
He gets convicted of vehicular homicide and has his driver's license suspended for 15 years.
The news of his conviction and punishment is in all the newspapers.
So what does he do?
He gets stopped by a police officer while driving in Hopkinton where he is the town manager two days after the conviction.
Then he says he didn't know his license was suspended.
Now in addition to losing his license for 15 years, and 4 years probation, he'll get fired.
Did Troiano have Rufo for a lawyer?
Posted by: | September 23, 2008 at 01:59 PM
Rugo gets most of his business representing indigent petty criminals.
He's got a vested interest in keeping the slime in Barnstable.
No slime, no crime, no dime for Rugo.
Barry is the same kind of lawyer.
Both are Perry Mason in reverse. Hamilton Berger is idiot who loses all his cases to the defense.
With Rugo and Barry, it's the criminals who always get convicted.
Did you see tha Barry had his client who killed the two people at the intersection of 151 and Sandwich Road, cop a plea, then find out there was no deal.
The newspaper said Barry was stunned, but his client will spend a lot of time in Walpole.
Someone told me Chirigotis is an indigent defense lawyer in Taunton.
If he is the council has three losers in addition to Crocker, Joakim, Barton, Curtis, Tobey, Tinsley, and Farnham.
Thank God none of them will be around next November.
