For the sake of all of us in Barnstable we must have trustworthy and immutable political leaders before going under for the third time.
In what should be her penultimate statement to the Cape Cod Times, Joakim remained true to her enigmatic character when she said,
“she originally opposed the Stewarts Creek proposal and continues to take issue with the funding plan, but when more than half the people she spoke to in the surrounding neighborhoods said they wanted the project to move forward,” she changed her mind.
Literally Joakim said, "I was against sewer expansion in Stewarts Creek before I was for it, but only after talking to folks who were unaffected because they lived nearby."
For example at the July 16th town council hearing when Joakim voted force sewer expansion in the west side of Stewarts Creek, after listening to;
Milton Berglund, who owns a home at 21 Studley the east side of Stewarts Creek and another in Wellesley,
Daniel Pendergast who owns a home at 64 Studley in he east side of Stewarts Creek,
Michael Abodeely who owns a home at 27 Keating Road in the east side of Stewarts Creek, and another in Shrewsbury,
Daphne Abodeely who owns a home at 27 Keating Road in the east side of Stewarts Creek, and another with her husband in Shrewsbury,
John Bjork who owns a home at 11 Studley Road in the east side of Stewarts Creek,
Jeff Coombs, who owns a home at 23 Keating Road in the east side of Stewarts Creek, and another in Stamford, CT,
Kevin Burke, who co-owns a home at 17 Keating Road in the east side of Stewarts Creek, and another in West Sprinfield, and
Barbara Burke, who co-owns a home at 17 Keating Road in the east side of Stewarts Creek, and another in West Springfield.
Not a soul from the west side of Stewarts Creek, the area in question was there to speak against sewering because it wasn't on the agenda.
The folks from the west side just got together without informing the stakeholders, to argue for sewer expansion a half-mile away in a neighborhood separated by the creek during public comment.
These folks inferred they were stakeholders,, and Joakim took their commentary as overwhelming support for sewer expansion.
Subsequently at the August 6th town council hearing Joakim clearly articulated,
“We need to come up with a betterment policy (sewer construction).”
“We have a betterment policy when it comes to roads.”
“I’ve listened to the speakers and it comes to 50% - 50% who want and don’t want sewers.”
“I personally want to see sewers happen, but the costs need to be spread around town.”
“I’m over in the western part of town, we could even need a sewage treatment plant, and I’m looking a $100,000 and even $150,000 betterments.”
Then at the October 19th town hall debate with council candidate, Joe Pino, Joakim said,
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how much are two 40 second video clips worth to get at the truth.
Check them out and you decide how stable Joakim really is.
If Joakim has all this doubt about financing sewer expansion, and commissioned the Comprehensive Financial Advisory Commission and the Barnstable County Waste Water Collaborative to find ways to pay for sewers,
Joakim must believe Stewarts Creek homeowners are less than
CHOPPED LIVER.
The single most inexplicable thing with Janet is her use of multiple addresses for her home in Precinct 6.
To most of us knowing our home address is fundamental.
I’m seventy-five and can recall the street address everywhere I’ve lived during my lifetime, including my APO addresses when I was in the Navy, but not the enigmatic Joakim.
In 1987 Janet and her husband bought their house at 9 Natka Drive, Centerville.
At some point in time Joakim characterized her home as being located at 206 Donegal Circle.
On one of Joakim’s many web pages she asks that contributions be sent to 205 Donegal Circle.
When Joakim failed to pay her income taxes, the IRS federal liens were placed on both her fictitious 206 Donegal Circle and her 9 Natka Drive properties.
When Joakim wrote her bad check to the Advanced Embroidery for adding her daughter's name to BHS's sports uniforms, the check's address was 206 Donegal Circle, which the owner couldn't find when the check was returned for insufficient funds.
Joakim has been collecting the residential exemption at 9 Natka Drive but her mailing address is at the non-existent address at 206 Donegal Circle.
Joakim in the past filed her income taxes from both addresses as recorded in liens on her home at 9 Natka Circle.
The law permits the use of different names and addresses except for the purposes of fraud.
When you enter the polling booth in Precinct 6, take a moment to ask yourself why Joakim professes to have three different home addresses for the same home.
Posted in Joakim's reelection website is an affirmation that there never has been, nor is, a plan to build a new waste water treatment plant in Centerville or Marston Mills at a cost of $165,700,000, the cost of which when sewers are constructed will be paid for by $100,000 - $150,000 betterment liens on homes in Centerville and Marstons Mills.
We raised this issue with DPW Director, Mark Ells recently because of the town's request for $165,700,000 from President Obama's ARRA stimulus funds to build the non-planned sewer plant, and he refuted Joakim's claim with the following telegram;
The town of Barnstable is a $180,000,000 annual business.
The town is operating efficiently with a $10 million shortfall from last year's budget.
Joakim withdrew $11 million from the town's savings account last year to supplement the town budget.
Joakim also withdrew $5.7 million the year before to supplement the F/Y2008 budget.
Joakim is desperate; "Hey! Can I have your vote?!!! Will you vote for me?!!!! Pleeeeeeeeze!!!" Ouch. This thing was over before it began.
